Tonsils are elements of the body's immune system. For a few months after tonsil surgery, the level of some immune system elements produced by the tonsils may decrease in the blood, but this does not cause any weakness. In the long term, there is no difference between children with tonsils and children who have undergone tonsillectomy. Removal of the tonsils does not lead to the development of an infection in another part of the body or the development of another systemic disease.
